Thoughts?? They had asked for pay parity with SC Clerks years ago and have finally gotten it. How is this as a recently out of law school option?
Junior Judges in some states (South India) get less than 45 K in hand.
Are you sure about this? This is beyond pathetic! Also, is Kerala included in this list?
Yes, https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/kerala/pay-revision-judicial-officers-move-sc/article36383032.ece

From the article: "Pay scale of court staff in Kerala was higher than that of judicial officers after the State government revised the salaries of its employees".
The difference is,

NIT/Top Engineering College Graduates become Court Clerks in Kerala.

It's a relaxed job with super high salaries.

Local College LLB students become judges in Kerala - most students from NUALS don't even write the Judicial Exam - it obviously points out something.

Judicial Services has extensive travel, strict working conditions, low chances of career progression (High Court Judge Seats are reserved for Nepotism candidates) and lower pay.

Yes.

High Court Clerk Working Conditions

Salary per month
65K Fresher to 170K (retirement)

Hours
9 AM to 5 PM

Transfers
Zero

Vacancies - 200. Applicants - 60K

Permanent Court Clerk Jobs are far more competitive to get than that of Civil Judge.
Judicial Services in Kerala/Tamil Nadu/Karnataka etc is easy, actually.

Far less competitive than Court Clerk Job. Court clerk job doesn't require LLB and pays high with better working conditions.
Kerala has the worst judicial pay scale among all states. Students studying in nlus- from Kerala don't even write the test for the same reason.

In Kerala - Court clerks are paid a starter salary of Rs. 65K in hand (Kerala High Court)

Judge's?? - Less than 45K.

Court staff makes a lot more than judges, it's not considered as an attractive job.

Mind that Court Clerks job doesn’t require that much intelligence or skills (as much as a judge) or even a law degree.

Judge's have extensive transfers across the State. Even 45K given will be blown away in these transfers.

These are confirmed payscales (Kerala)

Basic pay of a Starting - when a person begins his/her career in these roles.

Kerala Judicial Magistrate/Civil Judge - 27'700

Kerala Court Assistant/Clerk - 39'300.

Generally south Indian States pay a lot less than the ones in North which pay upwards 1 lakh per month.
