I heard that one of the Rhodes scholars for this year is from nujs. Is it true ? Is there any other law student selected other for rhodes scholarship this year ?
Not possible. Every troll in LI is convinced that NUJS only produces students for corporate law firm jobs despite a lot of evidence to the contrary over the years. No NUJS student could even have cleared the first round for Rhodes. Wait a bit and everyone will tell you that in detail.
Buddy, one Rhodes scholar means nothing. For ranking colleges moots, infra, faculty, research, overall placements, UPSC success: all of these matter. NIRF has laid down for 4 years in a row that NUJS is not a top 3 college and it has struggled to be even top 5.

Also, you should also look at other scholarships and fellowships received by students/alumni of your college, not just Rhodes:

UK: Gates, Chevening, Commonwealth, Felix
US: Fulbright
EU: Humboldt and DAAD in Germany, Eiffel in France, Erasmus Mundus across EU

Various others.
Buddy, you are just one of the trolls who can't bear to acknowledge excellence of others. The scholarships that you mentioned, please come up with the stats of how many students from which of the NIRF universities secured which ones in the last 5 years? As for placements and moots, you are the one who should check the records. Moreover, doesn't NIRF rank Savitha Institute to have higher research points than places like NLUD? You go ahead and place reliance on that spurious ranking all that you want. The comment was never meant to prove the superiority of NUJS over others, only insecure minds like yours made that connection. It is simply to debunk the lie that NUJS only produces students for law firm. That's been proved otherwise with the multiple entrepreneurs, litigators, civil service professionals, public policy professionals and think tank people who have graduated from NUJS over the years. You go ahead and cry a river if you want. Whatever infra is here, that can surely do with improvement, but it sure isn't stopping the students from doing everything that they want.
Since when does NIRF consider UPSC and moots for ranking? Please do better research, o troll. If it did, NUJS has an excellent mooting record rivaling anyone other than possibly NLS over the last decade.
Do you mean IITK is top 5 in the country for law ? and Symbiosis Law School, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia top 10 for law? Not saying that these places are not good, but top 5/10 ? Come on, How stupid someone can be to trust NIRF
Stop worshipping NIRF. And UPSC is literally a non existent criteria to rank a professional course. Do you rank AIIMS on basis of UPSC outcome?? Professional courses are for serious lawyers and doctors who hold their profession in high prestige and want to excel in them. The colonial supremacy of UPSC having to do anything with the ranking of a professional course needs to go. This is a very flawed mindset.
That's 3 rhodes scholars in 5 years. More than any other law school for the matter.

But yes, people on Legally India will tell you NUJS is not an academic place.
It is long established in legally India that NLS NALSAR NUJS supremacy is here to stay.
Yes, Adrija Ghosh (2021 NUJS graduate) has received the Rhodes scholarship
NLU Rhodes scholars since 2012, i.e. past 10 years: NLSIU at 6, NALSAR and NUJS both at 4, GNLU at 2, NLUD and NUALS at 1

NLU Rhodes scholars since 2017, i.e. past 5 years: NUJS and GNLU both at 2, NLUD at 1, NLSIU at 0, NALSAR at 0.

Break up below.

2012: 1 NLSIU, 1 NALSAR
2013: 1 NLSIU, 1 NUJS
2014: 1 NLSIU, 1 NALSAR
2015: 1 NLSIU, 1 NALSAR
2016: 1 NLSIU, 1 NUJS, 1 NUALS
2017: 1 GNLU
2018: 1 NUJS
2019: 1 GNLU
2020: 1 NLUD
2021: 1 NUJS
Correction in the stats: NUJS has got 3 Rhodes Scholars in the past 5 years. Gauri Pillai from 2017 Batch, Mihika Poddar from 2018, and now Adrija Ghosh from 2021. The two other Rhodes scholars from NUJS are Shibani Ghosh from 2006 batch and Amba Kak from 2013 batch.
Even though NUJS may have produced a Rhodes scholar it still does not take away criticism that the students and alumni are too focused on law firms. NUJS must be 20 years old now. When Law School was 20 years old it has already produced people like those who set up ALF, CIS and Vidhi, plus Aditya Sondhi had a great budding practice, plus people who were teaching.
The organizations that you mentioned are actually full of NUJS people, especially Vidhi. Further, more NUJS alumni currently teach in India than alumni from any single other law school. The total number will be almost 50.
NUJS grads have also set up plenty of successful start ups like ODRWays that have contributed considerably to the justice system in the country. If you actually kept tabs of legal developments then you would have known that.
NLSIU has been boasting about its Rhodes record (made in the absence of any competition) for years and years. But the past 10 years Rhodes ranking is:
1. NLSIU @ 6
2. Nalsar-NUJS @4
3. NLUD-GNLU @ 2

Now just imagine what will happen if we one day do a 10 year calculation and see NLSIU overtaken !! I think all non-NLSIU NLUs will be rooting for NALSAR or NUJS to overtake NLSIU.
NALSAR and NUJS students or any other students for that matter try to get Rhodes for their own sake, not to further this make-believe pissing contest between law schools that LI trolls salivate over.
Hey NKC, before you call up TOI and take credit for this please first fix the college website.
Rhodes has lost its sheen in recent years. I think toppers from NLSIU these days would prefer to join a Magic Circle/litigation chamber/think tank right away or prepare for UPSC. They would rather do an LLM after work experience (if at all).

DISCLAIMER: This is just my view.
Aww... Every time NLSIU grads don't get something, it seems to 'lose its sheen' in the eyes of the trolls here.
Toppers from NLSIU would love to join magic circle firms. But lately, not many are getting hired, that's the only problem.
You do know that Rhodes is also awarded to people other than freshers, right?
