She also threw a paper ball at the speaker and kicked a lady countable from Assam at the airport (all captured on camera: see google).
This just shows that anyone who is media savvy and vocal is considered a "good" politician in India, instead of someone who is genuinely very experienced and ethical. A sad reflection of the shallow celebrity and social media culture of today. Might as well invite Nicki Minaj to give the next lecture.
She was also the only one who had the guts to call out in Parliament an ex CJI who was accused of sexual harassment, cleared himself, wrote some politically convenient judgements for the ruling dispensation and then went on to accept an RS seat within months of retirement, while all the male parliamentarians watched while some other males tried to berate her for calling out this disgusting act. While the media didn't make much fuss about the said ex CJI either and let this whole thing silently pass. That for me is much more worrisome. I am not sure about your credentials or quality, but I for one didn't find her courage to be either pedestrian or a rant.
MM is merely playing to the galleries by clothing herself as an Indian AOC. It’s convenient for her, politically. If she truly believed in these causes, she would not have welcomed Babul Supriyo’s induction into the TMC. Politics is a game of convenience. But that being said, the legal profession, at least on the adversarial side, is also about representing your client’s beliefs as best as possible - the difference being that you are in the court of public opinion as a politician. MM uses all the right keywords to get a certain section of well-to-do youth to ring her praises. But let’s not pretend any of her beliefs are truly genuine - particularly in the context of political parties that do not profess any political ideology beyond expediency.
