Over the last month I have come across several posts from students across various colleges over the next steps to take, with majority of them being genuine concerns that arise when the final years kicks in and the panic to secure some form of employment emerges. Career planning, unfortunately is a luxury which only those colleges or individuals can avail who have access to good mentors and seniors, willing to guide them through this process. The issue that emerges however is that practicing professionals are unable to take out time to appropriately guide students, and approaching them feels a bit difficult to those who have issues in networking or socialising.

The purpose of this post is to offer basic planning assistance and general advice to people who cannot access their alumni network, or want to clarify some basic doubts which they might be a bit ashamed to ask. Which is why I am offering an anonymous email ID to send in all your doubts to, called peerassistance2021@gmail.com. The reason for this anonymous email ID is to give a chance to students to ask any questions that they might have without fear of judgement or scrutiny. No personal details are going to be asked, general enquiries from my end, if any, would be limited to your college type, year of study and area of interest (might include firms with which you may have worked before).

I am a final year student who was lucky enough to secure a job through Day zero in a Tier-1 Firm, and was also at advanced stages of securing PPOs from another Tier-1 Firm and a boutique firm had completed my assessment internship and was waiting for a PPO interview but Day zero happened for me first, where my luck worked. I credit my success to the timely mentorship I received from my seniors, professionals and college professors, which is why I feel obligated to offer assistance and help to whoever I can, and also since I now have the time on my hands (Please see Law Firm Ready and Mentorology, two excellent initiatives from which I got in touch with great mentors). This is not a mentorship and I will not review CVs or get you internships as I am not qualified to do so yet. What I am offering is a peer to peer clarification system and practical tips from the perspective of a student.

If interested please reach out to the email ID above, my response would be an acknowledgement (within the first 12 hours) followed by a proper response hopefully within 48 hours. You can communicate using aliases, different accounts or you can reveal your name, as per your discretion. I am using LI as a means of broadcasting this as I have seen some good threads which have gone unnoticed and hopefully this can pick up enough traction to offer support. If anyone has any suggestions to improve this system, I am open to the same, please comment below or reach out at the email address. If there are any other final year students who would be happy to help, please consider reaching out as well. This is purely a voluntary initiative and no fee whatsoever will be charged.
Hi A02022

Thanks for the shoutout! We try our best to offer mentorship by connecting law students with seniors working in the industry, but unfortunately we are not able to accommodate everyone due to limited slots. But it’s great to see you are taking this forward and helping out your peers.

For those who are interested in our mentorship programme, our next round of applications will open during September end. You can follow us on LinkedIn for updates.
