I have been offered a job in a start up with series A funding from a lead PE fund. I will the only lawyer with around 6 years of PQE. How to judge the place before joining? What are some things to be kept in mind while joining a new place that no one really knows about?
Some things you can check with them-

- How much funding do they have/ how long can they afford to sustain salaries, if things go south?

- Do they understand that they sometimes need to consult law firms, and do they have a budget?

- What's your gut feel about their HR head? This is crucial, because it talks about their processes and overall culture.

- Do the founders know why they need a lawyer (someone who calls out risks and helps them take informed decisions, not just someone who tells them which form to file at which time)?
