Hi, can someone please give a review about Institute of Law Nirma University? From teaching to placements, etc? Also what other options should I consider for private law colleges
Not a student but a working professional. Was associated with the Institute, earlier.
Nirma is an okayish place and the city is safe/ OK. The Head of the college was a pain but has now left. So, IF a new head comes who is less interested in personal glory and ready to work for institution building, then it could click. Also, the question needs to be answered in context of what alternatives you have.
The thing with Nirma is, you will find many alumni working at top tier firms, in top universities abroad, in litigation, etc. but few backing the University.
I suppose you can make a career out of Nirma, it's a decently respected name (and expensive), but the institution has failed to form attachment with its students/alumnus. It doesn't seem to be a bad university either, because law firms respect it, and often value the talent from Nirma. But more or less, its the students own efforts that helps the law firm find him/her. Looking at university for even practical education is not going to work unless students make efforts, you better find out the best way/stuff to learn and force the professor to teach it. The value in being at Nirma is the students, the college is just a conduit, if the generation of students at a point in the University is driven and active, Nirma experience may be good, if it is not driven, you will have a tough time. Learn to absorb the good, work hard and you will do well at Nirma and in life.
With respect to jobs and placements, you will be making your own way. If you are a lucky batch, and if you rank in the top 30 of the batch, you may get opportunity to sit for tier - 1 firm interviews. However, there is no zero day at Nirma. This does not mean you don't get into tier-1 firms.
