Let's not get into what a call-back internship is.

This question is to specifically know whether the quantity/quality of work is any different during a call-back internship as opposed to a regular internship. What do firms make one do?

Does getting a call-back mean a sure shot PPO interview?
Generally, most firms like CAM/SAM do not offer PPOs straight after a 1-month internship. If they like the intern and want to possibly recruit him/her in the future, they offer him/her a callback. The intern might come back again to intern with the same team in his/her next vacation and if they again like him/her, they offer a PPO. A callback can be considered as an offer for an Assessment Internship.
Much thanks, and duly liked! It seems like the name 'callback' seems like a bit confusing... Couldn't it be called multiple-stage internship instead, or something? :)
Please also provide some insight on how to get/ ask for a call back internship.
As someone who's gotten callbacks from two Tier 1s, I believe I can speak about this. Getting a callback is also reliant on factors outside your control; amount of work at the time, type of work at the time, your mentor etc etc. However assuming all external factors are in your favour, make sure you work well and are seen to be working a lot. Ask smart questions, go above and beyond, you MUST build great relationships with your team.

Then in the final week tell them that you want a callback and also tell the HR. If its a Tier1 (except AZB NOIDA) most of the processing of your callback should happen on its own, if not, pester them a little bit.

All the best!
He is. This seems like he's delegating the work of explaining it to the commentators. Given his resource constraint, not a half bad idea.
What's the ratio of call backs at a Tier 1 firm? Let's say there are 20 interns in the office.
