Have you seen in any law firms in India where women are being paid less than men at the same designation? Or a case where a woman was overlooked for promotion despite being equally competent?
i have seen women leave at 5-6 and guys leaving at 6 the next day get paid the exact same amount. guy being effective too, and not some slouch unable to deliver on time. this is not some kiraane ka dukaan that even if youre generating business, working hard enough that you wont be paid equally to your male counterparts. many forms of discriminatory behavior exists in the profession but gender pay gap is not at the top of the list. other forms of reprehensible behaviour do exist in the profession (such as sexual harassment) which do need to be countered but gender pay gap simply is not a thing especially in more professional set ups. there is a reason guys in the profession are fat and bald even only at their late twenties!
There are many women who leave firms after 3 to 5 years for raising kids/ family. Either to In House roles or for other relaxed positions. These decisions are taken by the person herself without any pressure, but it results in lack of career opportunities (atleast compared to what a firm offers)
I see this often in law firm couples... Wonder why we don't see enough men take up "less taxing" roles to account for fatherhood.

Truth is parenting is disproportionately saddled onto women. Even after infancy. And that is one of the root causes of gender pay gap.
Then they should probably marry men who are willing to take up less taxing jobs and willing to take an equal burden of raising kids-men who believe in basic equality and feminism, there are many such guys up there, especially ones working in Consulting/ Law Firms.

Don't tell that these woman are forced into arranged marriages with men having regressive mentality - NO, these woman have enough independence and financial power to marry someone of thier choice.
Also majority of Tier 1/2 firms are friendly to working mothers. Paid - Long Maternity Leave, Creche & Child Care leaves and even many partners are really considerate. But everyone is expected to take up the same pressure when deadlines come.

Majority of woman partners have successful family lives- yes with kids.
To get some inspiration do look up stories at AZB & Partners, Rajaram and S&R Associates. These firms are led by women.

Yes. Successful women. Wives, Mothers managing a successful corporate law practice.
