According to LI, NUJS advertised for faculty hires in July 2020. Almost one year has passed but LI has not reported on any hires, so I am assuming nothing happened. If yes, it is clear that the hires have been stalled because of the political situation in Bengal and state elections. It is really worrying to see this. I hope there has been no attempt by to politically influence the hiring process by the Mamata government and they will not do so if she returns to power.

One can contrast this with NLSIU, where Sudhir Krishnaswamy speedily hired 9-10 alumni with excellent qualifications, without any interference from the Yeddyurappa government.

Whichever politics party one may support, one cannot deny these facts.

Sorry, but I blame the students. It is always students who make or break NLUs. Even a so-called lower tier NLU like CNLU has seen a group of active students bring about positive change.
