Hi everyone. I am a final year student who has been recruited to join the IP practice of a Tier-1 full-service firm. I have been following LegallyIndia for a month or so and from what I could gather, the volume of work load in GC, M&A, disputes departments can get really high at most times. In that regard, I wish to know what is the typical work load in the IPR department.

Furthermore, is it possible to 'switch' between departments? This is a question I am yet to get a 'yes' or a 'no' from someone. If I wish to shift to the TMT team or suppose, the Disputes team, would that be allowed? Does that happen often?

This is my first post here and I would really appreciate honest answers! I scouted LinkedIn but the answers were either inconclusive or too rosy! I would be extremely happy to receive any IP practice-centric advice beyond my 2 questions. Thank you!
Much better to join a boutique firm than the CAM/SAM types as far as IP is concerned. One learns more.
