CLAT listens, publishes full merit list: Top 3 scores 30 marks less than last year at only 140-ish

In a bid at transparency, the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2015 has published the complete second revised merit list of all candidates for download on its website now, after days of hiding individual results behind individual usernames and passwords.

The top three scores out of 200 this year were 143.75 at the top, followed by 137.75 as the second-highest, and 135.25 in third place.

In 2014, the three toppers scored 171.75, 170.25, and 170.25 respectively.

However, the currently published list does not include which aspirant has been allocated which college.

JD Gangwar had told Legally India two days ago that the CLAT committee had decided not to publish the full merit list because there was no compulsion.

He also said that because the CLAT regularly shared CLAT scores on a “chargeable basis” with private law colleges, publishing the full list would deprive national law schools of that revenue source.

We have reached out to Gangwar for further comment.

A writ petition in Jaipur has demanded release of the merit list, in addition to rectification of 15 remaining errors in the undergraduate paper.

Story to be updated.
