this feels just like the IPL circus where the Shroff's are the team owners & the partners are the players & the bidding war is taking place since past many weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

Just wondering whether shardul should have added pallavis name in name of the new firm. The only issue I see would have been the acronym - SPAM

Also, would it be fair to say that given the aura and the respect Cyril commands in the Indian legal sector, he should have been able to poach more senior partners? Given the diverse background these lawyers are coming from, it would be quite a challenge for them to get along and agree on certain fundamental issues, say work culture.

I meant more partners from tier 1 law firms and not senior partners

And what makes you think that Cyril would not have thought of the issues you refer to. Most of his hires may not be "stars" today but the important thing is whether they have the right DNA to become stars under his guidance and under the Amarchand banner and who could be a better judge of this than Cyril himself ? By not hiring star partners from the Other Big 5 Cyril is also ensuring that the team he creates will listen to him and be easier to mould in the manner that he wants. Also, if 50% of these guys emerge as stars in two years from now, Cyril would have the best team in Delhi at a lower cost structure than the other firms. The man wrote the script on how to run a corporate law firm in India. Clearly he knows better than he is being presently credited for.

This cam/sam blitzkrieg shows the poor capacity of the poached firms to retain good talent. Guess that's what makes them wary and insecure of potential foreign law firms entering their turf.

If these two brothers don't stop this blitzkrieg, soon they will have more partners than associates in their respective teams. Separately, Kian, one interesting phenomenon that has started is the rock bottom fees that the respective firms are charging in the other's bastion to gain market entry. And which has triggered other firms to also lower their fees. Good for the client community!

Gardening Leave? Or is this something that is the modus operandi of the Brothers Shroff. After the dust settles and all is said and done, dare the Brothers Shroff ever mention that they are the sole bastion of home grown talent. Welcome to the New Age.

Kian, i think coverage of this entire saga has been very good. Find the way you have divided two sections with lawyer names very amusing. Almost like the transfer window before a football season.

I am positive that both entities will be approaching me soon

Though CAMs Del Office is 1/5 of SAMs Mumbai Office, CAM has recruited 5 times more ppl than SAM. Mind Boggling truly!
