Phoenix Legal follows clients, nests in Chennai with first non-founding office

Chennai callingChennai calling

Phoenix Legal has opened its first office after Delhi and Mumbai, launching in Chennai today with a team of four lawyers.

The Chennai office in the Seethakathi Business Centre in the central Anna Salai area, and is headed by corporate principal associate Sriram Ramachandran, who has moved from Phoenix’ Mumbai office. He is joined in Chennai by three local laterally hired lawyers.

Explaining the choice of Chennai, Phoenix co-founding partner Saket Shukla said: “A number of our clients do business in the region and we’ve quite a few ongoing projects.”

In particular, the firm had seen a boom in the manufacturing, automotive, electronics, textiles, renewable energy, mining,
power, IT and real estate sectors in South India.

“We will provide the same high quality of client focussed service from our Chennai office as is provided from our other offices,” explained Phoenix co-founding partner Abhishek Saxena.

“Although, we are starting with a small team, with Chennai being an important manufacturing cluster and with the emphasis on 'Make in India' initiative, we expect the office to grow rapidly and become comparable to the other two offices in a short period of time.”

Partner Manjula Chawla added: “The decision to set up the new Chennai office was driven by larger strategic interest, to not only fit existing client requirements and commitments but also provide an effective alternative to investors and corporates in the region.”

Phoenix Legal was established in 2008 in Delhi and Mumbai and has nine partners, of whom six are equity partners.

Because you clicked and commented on it?

Seriously guys, stop asking why something is news, it's a lame question. If you don't think something is news, stop giving an 'f' and DON'T READ IT. Easy, isn't it ;)

Kian I think in addition to allowing people to comment on the stories, you could explore a story specific Like/No Like option.. Currently they are available for individual comments.. This will be helpful in rating each story published by LI.. A thought.. Will be nice if you implement it!!

Btw Kian, how have you managed to circumvent a combination of AdBlock and No script. It seems youll smile only after I get the Epileptic seizure i get every time I click on a link.

AdBlock only works on ads that get served from ad networks such as Google, I think. NoScript only works on Javascript ads (not ours).

You should be careful though if running NoScript on LI - it will break some of the functionality such as comments, frontpage magic, etc (though you managed to comment, so that maybe you whitelisted us :).

If the ads annoy you so much, and you're somewhat technically inclined, you can probably remove all our ads with Greasemonkey, though know that ads are the majority of our meagre revenue, so clicks are appreciated... Or you could pay us an amount you deem fair and we'll do it for you or consider doing a proper ad-free version of LI:

I actually in dont mind ads as long as they are not in the gif/gfy/ video format. Im cool with all your static ads. I understand you need these ads to survive and suckers like me are not going to pay. But not these gifs please.

I think they're doing mostly finance and some lit in Mumbai, so don't have the same corporate profiles as they do in Delhi...

Phoenix legal is giving a good competition to bigger firms in market. Be it Delhi or Mumbai, they have a loyal bunch of good clients. Watch out for this firm

I heard that they are sending Trinath Tadakamalla to Chennai to manage their litigation and arbitration practice. He has that edge, being from the region?
