Titus & Co has lifted this year’s Turf Twenty20 Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) Cup after defeating Kochhar & Co in the finals last Saturday (15 January) to become the tournament’s champion for two years in a row in the nail-biting close to an exciting series.
The action-packed 20 overs final match ultimately went in favour of Titus only in the last couple of overs following strong batting by Kochhar & Co.
Kochhar accrued 114 runs for a loss of nine wickets in 20 overs with its star all-rounder Sultan Ansari notching up a total of 44 runs in 40 balls bowled and managing to hit four boundaries and one sixer before getting caught out by Titus’ Prashant Chauhan.
The other high-scorer from Kochhar was Bharat Veer who made 16 runs in 22 balls.
Titus, however, hit back solidly with a concerted team effort that was just enough to clinch the game with 115 runs over 18.5 overs losing nine wickets.
Despite facing strong bowling with Kochhar’s Sultan Ansari conceding only 11 runs in 4 overs while taking three wickets, Titus team members came out to lay down run rates almost consistently near six with Shamik Narain on 22 runs out of 20 balls, Ishan Verma on 25 out of 26 and J.S. Jaimohan on 18 out of 18.
The prize distribution ceremony organised on Sunday by SILF felicitated team Titus and bestowed awards in various categories.
Kochhar player Bharat Veer won the man of the tournament title while the best batsman and fielder awards of the series went to Titus’s Shamik Narain and Saurabh Anand respectively as Luthra & Luthra’s Manish Gupta was conferred best bowler of the tournament.
