Phoenix partnership adds 50%: KSP partners Mrinal Ojha & Trinath Tadakamalla join, Kartikeya Singh promoted

Phoenix grows to : Tadakamalla, Kartikeya Singh, Ojha (l to r)Phoenix grows to : Tadakamalla, Kartikeya Singh, Ojha (l to r)

Khaitan Sud & Partners partners Mrinal Ojha and Trinath Tadakamalla joined Phoenix Legal Delhi as partners in its litigation practice. Phoenix also promoted Mumbai counsel Kartikeya Singh to partnership effective 1 February.

Ojha and Tadakamalla had joined KSP from Tuli & Co in 2012 and were heading the firm’s general insurance and reinsurance practice. Ojha is a CLC Delhi 2002 alum who was also Phoenix Delhi partner Saket Shukla’s contemporary in Trilegal from 2006 to 2009. Tadakamalla joined Tuli straight after graduating from Nalsar Hyderabad in 2004.

Phoenix Delhi partner Manjula Chawla said: “We didn’t have a dedicated litigation team [in Delhi] though our litigation practice had been growing even in Delhi. So yes, the idea was to have a dedicated litigation practice and then we wanted to get involved in very high end litigation and complex disputes. [for instance] Oil and gas, energy, infrastructure, insurance.

“We already have a very strong corporate and projects practice so [Ojha and Tadakamalla] are going to complement us in this area.”

NLSIU 2004 alum Kartikeya Singh joined Phoenix in 2011 after stints as an independent litigator, at ICICI bank, AZB & Partners and IFMR Capital Finance. Chawla said he specialises in debt capital markets, securitisation and microfinance work.

With Ojha, Tadakamalla and Singh joining the partnership there are nine partners at the firm now with five of them in Delhi. Partner Jyoti Singh, who also heads litigation, is based out of Mumbai.

KSP managing partner UK Khaitan declined to comment when contacted by phone yesterday and Tadakamalla and Ojha were not reachable for comment by phone.

It's KS Partners - short for Khaitan, Sud & Partners not KSP Partners, Prachi.

Do you mean "KSP partners" in the headline, with partners in lowercase?

That's short for "Khaitan Sud & Partners partners Mrinal Ojha and Trinath Tadakamalla", you'll find :)

Fantastic way to begin the new year Kartikeya. Hope that you will remember those who stood by your side and gave you succor (defined as "assistance and support in times of hardship and distress") on your path, while you rake in the moolah.

Mr. Tanuj, I think you need to ponder upon the reason for sinking of your ship. For how long you want to grow under the K banner which has lost all its credibility!!

That is the fantastic news that Mrinal and Trinath got out of the mess. Very soon Sud's team will also ditch the Khaitans.

"UK Khaitan declined to comment when contacted by phone yesterday"-- Lol.. What he can say on this.. Why Kian trying to make UKK rub salt on his own wound!!
