Khaitan & Co Mumbai partner Vaishali Sharma, who joined in 2010 from AZB & Partners, has quit the firm.
Sharma was not reachable for comment at the time of going to press.
Khaitan partner Rabindra Jhunjhunwala commented that Sharma decided to start her own law firm and that the departure was “mutually agreed”.
“We wish her the very best,” he added. “When opportunities present [themselves] we would work together [in future].”
Sharma specialises in corporate, private equity and anti-trust work.
She began her career at Desai & Diwanji after graduating from her LLB at Mumbai University in 2000, worked at Majumudar & Co between 2003 and 2004, followed by a year at Kochhar & Co and five years at AZB until 2010.
She was also seconded to Clifford Chance from AZB while the firms had a best friends referral relationship.
