Exclusive: Around 50 out of 82 NLIU Bhopal students graduating this year participated in the campus recruitment activities, out of whom 31 found employment with recruiters led by Amarchand Mangaldas, two legal process outsourcing (LPO) units, a public sector undertaking, a private company and ICICI Bank.
It is understood that three to four out of the 50 placement participants are awaiting responses to Supreme Court judicial clerkship applications, while around 5 applied for LLM degrees.
Out of the 31 students with corporate job offers via the placement committee, Amarchand Mangaldas and ICICI Bank recruited five each, followed by four that were picked up by the LPO Pangea3.
Two students each were hired by Trilegal, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, public sector undertaking (PSU) Bharat Petroleum, and Clifford Chance’s captive LPO, OSC Services.
Phoenix Legal, PXV Law Partners, Majmudar & Partners, Desai & Diwanji, TPM Consultants, Link Legal, Tempus Law, Dave Girish & Co, and Indo-US insurance JV Max New York Life Insurance made one hire each.
Bajaj Allianz is understood to have shortlisted three candidates, although no offers have yet been made. Roughly 50 per cent of the remaining students that are part of the cell sat for various judicial services examinations.
Vinesh Chandel, student member of the university’s placement committee said: “With a placed percentage of 70 per cent, we’re fairly satisfied with the way the placement scenario has panned out. For the first time, our junior batch has had ‘Day 0’ of their placements in the month of April 2012. We hope that this experiment yields even better results.”
Graduating student Bishen Jeswant commented: “The PCC, especially Vinesh, has worked very hard and all of us are thankful to them for all the effort they’ve put in. NLIU has given us fantastic opportunities to find our calling over these years, and each and every student should be grateful to the institute for all that it has given us, culminating with a job for many in their final year.”
“It is also great to see that not everyone runs after a high-paying job, with many students writing the Civil and Judicial Services Examinations. Education from a premier institution such as NLIU puts us in a good position to contribute to growth of our country, and we all should ideally jump at this opportunity which is not available to most.”
At NLIU’s so-called day zero on 16 April 2012, Amarchand hired four and Trilegal two fourth-year students.
Khaitan & Co, which had hired six NLIU final year students in 2011 and three fourth-year students from the 2013 batch, recruited none from the 2012 graduating class.

You're probably a first year kid, aren't you ?
HAHA! True! :P
GO read the N.A.L.S.A.R. UNIVERSITY ACT, 1998...What your VC is supposedly doing according to you is against your institutional Act. Section 4.
You are so not from NALSAR =D Hell, you can't even be from a good Non-NLU =D
Seems like dark days are ahead, the job market is completely stagnant. Oh when will liberalisation occour !
Regards L.I.
Basically, unlike Mittal and Co., CRC 2012 stopped making any efforts after the CRC members got recruited themselves. They placed a little more than half the batch in the beginning of the year (day zero) but only managed to secure a handful of low profile jobs subsequently.
The scene's worse for 2013 batch as you can infer from the recently published NALSAR and GNLU stats.
Christ Law did well last year with their first batch, so I'm curious to see how they did this year. Symbi has been falling steadily, so wanna know if they've climbed.
LI do report these two.
Best REPLY EVER. One TK can take a few lessons and stop his startups.
People wanna know the status of a University before joining it.
DO it.
C'mon.
Yeahhhh..
Post it.
Awww..
POST IT!
wait for few days.. we will come up with the data very soon.. The placement scene was not bad..Except 5-6 ppl from the batch, everyone got placed who sat for recruitment...
@Placement veteran - Some of us did grumble, but when the markets are tanking you take whatever comes your way. Beggars can't be choosers, you see. And just to clarify, the top 40-50 odd people in the batch got picked up by the usual tier I firms. It was the lower half of the batch which faced the music, as the CRC wasn't able to attract many tier II/III recruiters.
What after that, we all know you get the the first 20 people placed well.. and the rest have to join Gujarat Government & Patel & Patel, Ahmedabad.
Also do report on the standing of RMLNLU, RGNLU etc.
I hear Christ didn't do that well. Not as good as it's first year atleast. Kian, do update!
