Platinum, Freshfields for Japan Arysta in large India pharmaceutical buy

Khaitan & Co, Platinum Partners and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer have advised on a majority stake acquisition of Mumbai-based agrochemicals company Devidayal Sales by Japanese Arysta LifeScience.

Khaitan & Co led by corporate partner Kalpana Unadkat and tax executive director Daksha Baxi advised on the seller-side for Devidayal Sales.

Platinum Partners Mumbai partner Nihar Mody and senior associate Yashasvi Mohanram alongside from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer New York partner Timothy Wilkins and associate Paul Humphreys acted for Arysta LifeScience on aspects of Indian and international laws respectively.

Owned by international private equity firm Permira, Arysta LifeScience is reportedly the world’s largest privately held agrochemical company that had $1.2bn in revenue until 2009.

“The deal with DSL is expected to provide a launch platform for Arysta in India as the former comes with a portfolio of product registrations and brands, marketing infrastructure and a production facility,” reported VCCircle.
