Amarchand Mangaldas has advised data service provider Tulip Telecom on the Rs 230 crore ($50m) acquisition of an entire data centre facility housed in Bangalore’s Sada IT Parks to create India’s largest and third largest eco-friendly data centre in the world.
The firm’s Kolkata-based partner Kalpataru Tripathy led the transaction along with senior associate Arindam Sarkar and associate Soumya Banerjee. The legal work involved was fulfilling regulatory compliances, drafting, negotiating and finalising the relevant transaction documents.
“The acquisition structure and steps underwent numerous changes owing to circumstances, and it was always interesting to keep improvising and innovating to keep up with the dynamic business requirement,” said Tripathy.
The target was led by an individual practitioner in assistance with the company’s in house legal team.
The investments entailed in developing the 9,00,000 square feet facility is estimated to be Rs 900 crore.
