NLSIU Bangalore has moved back into the second place of the Mooting Premier League (MPL) sponsored by Clifford Chance after winning a confirmed 10 points for the fourth best memorial at the world finals of the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition.

The fourth best memorial, which has now been confirmed by event organisers, entitles NLSIU to 10 MPL points as the equivalent to an honourable mention in a Tier 1 event.

This year three Indian teams - NLU Jodhpur, NLSIU Bangalore and Nalsar Hyderabad - had advanced to the octa finals at the Jessup world rounds.

NLSIU and Nalsar reached the quarter finals, where NLSIU lost to New York's Columbia Law School, which went on to become the eventual runners-up in the event. The NLSIU team consisted of Raag Yadava, V.Niranjan, Gautam Bhatia and Subhang Nair.

Nalsar defeated University College London (UCL) to qualify for the semi-finals where the team lost to a team from Australian National University, who were the eventual winners of this year's competition.

The semi-finalist position entitled Nalsar for 10 points which was allocated to Nalsar in the league table, as reported on 30 March. The college's team consisted of speakers Shatadru Chakraborty and Dhananjaya Mishra and researchers Brajendu Bhaskar and Ashish Parekh.

Nalsar still leads MPL with 149 points, while NLSIU is now at 102 points, closely followed by NLU Jodhpur with 94 points in third position.

We are confirming the honourable mentions of Willem C. Vis Vienna with convenors and will update the rankings in shortly.

The MPL is sponsored by Clifford Chance and the top eight ranked law colleges will share a generous prize fund of Rs 1.5 lakhs provided by the firm.
