Luthra & Luthra has beaten Trilegal in the first match in the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) – Khushal T-20 law firm cricket tournament in Delhi, which will pit 16 teams against each other over the next four months.

Trilegal batted first and made 145 runs in 20 overs but Luthra successfully chased this score with Tarun Mehrishi ultimately taking home 102 runs in 49 balls.

Mehrishi also won the man of the match award for his century.

The game between Luthra & Luthra and Trilegal took place on Sunday 21 February at the Gyan Bharti School, Saket.

Luthra & Luthra was captained by Amaresh Singh and the Trilegal team by Yogesh Singh.

According to the tournament rules, it is played by 16 teams that are divided into four groups of four teams each. Each team in the group plays the other three teams once. The top two teams in each group qualify for the quarter final, at which point the competition moves into the knock-out rounds.

SILF is co-organising this tournament in conjunction with the Khushal Cricket Coaching Trust, which is headed by Gursharan Singh.

SILF chairman Lalit Bhasin told Legally India yesterday that he was excited and looked forward to the rest of the competition.

Last year's SILF T-20 tournament was won by Suri & Co.

In January, Wadia Ghandy won the Mumbai ELP Masters Cricket Cup 2010 against defending champions Economic Laws Practice (ELP).

Titus & Co won December 2009's Turf Twenty20 tournament in Delhi against Saikrishna.
