Desai & Diwanji has poached a team of four lawyers from Crawford Bayley, taking on one senior associate as a partner.
Anoj Menon (pictured) joins Desai & Diwanji in Mumbai last month as a corporate partner after having been with Crawford Bayley for nearly 11 years.
Menon said: "I left Crawford Bayley for better growth and to more fruitfully channelise my abilities and potential."
Menon specialises in M&A and private equity and is a qualified advocate.
Crawford Bayley senior partner Rajendra Shah commented: "I'm sorry to have lost him but this has been a very amicable parting."
Menon is joined at Desai & Diwanji by his team of associates Mitali Mehta, Dhanyashree Shah and Archita Lohia.
It is understood that the firm is currently in talks for several other high-level lateral hires in other practice areas.

While I agree with most comments about these old Bombay firms, I must add that there are a few experts sitting in each of these firms who offer a very good value for money. The so called leading firms are good for fancy corporate M&A and capital market work being handled by young (and sometimes less experienced people). I have noticed that these old timers offer a very good value for money in addition to old fashined attention to detail and client care.
It will be good for the old Bombay firms to become democratic and get out of the old Bomaby boys club.
