Delhi-headquartered law firm King Stubb & Kasiva is set to open a new office in Mumbai within months and has added a new equity partner to its head office ranks.
The firm is currently finalising the negotiations with up to two partners from Mumbai firms to spearhead its new office.
Managing partner Jidesh Kumar (pictured) said: "The Mumbai office would be banking, finance and infrastructure focused. We are looking at having an infrastructure partner from one of the top five law firms there."
He added that the office would initially be staffed by up to two partners and 12 lawyers and that the firm was very keen on expansion.
King Stubb & Kasiva has also hired a new equity partner to head up its IP practice. Neha Nanchahal was an associate at King Stubb & Kasiva around seven years ago but will now rejoin the firm as an equity partner from New York firm Rosensteel Law, where she had worked for the last year as a legal intern.
Nanchahal holds New York Bar and Indian practising qualifications.
Kumar commented: "She had the passion firstly to come back to India and secondly she has experience of the values and [IP and trademark] systems in place in countries like the US and UK. It will be good for Indian companies to follow such systems.
"She brings a lot of value addition in terms of introductions and in terms of her clients that she can bring to the firm."
King Stubb & Kasiva is made up of seven equity partners and 48 junior and senior associates, with offices in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai.
Kumar said that around 10 lawyers and 2 patent lawyers currently work on IP matters, although the primary work handled by the firm was private equity funds and M&A-related.
