SCBA starts job board experiment to hook up juniors and seniors

Supreme Court: Changing of the guard
Supreme Court: Changing of the guard

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has attempted to simplify the process of hiring chamber juniors for senior advocates, by maintaining a register in one of the Supreme Court’s libraries.

Advocates looking for positions and seniors looking to hire juniors can enter their names and details in the register which is open for perusal to members of the association.

SCBA president PH Parekh told Legally India that junior advocates should submit detailed applications, including their resumes, at the register, which the SCBA would periodically check to process the applications.

“We are trying to do something,’ he commented. “If it is successful then we’ll be happy.”

A circular posted up at the SC yesterday stated:

“[…] a register has been kept on reception counter of Library No. 1 with Mr Satish Kumar Jha. The younger members of the bar who want placement as chamber junior in the office of Senior Advocate/Advocates, may place their names in the Register with contact number and their experience.”

“Hon’ble Senior members of the Supreme Court are also requested to put their requirements of junior advocate, if any, in the said register so that placement of young juniors can be effectively done.”
