Senior advocate Arvind Nigam won temporary relief for Dushyant Dave who was to face disciplinary proceedings before the Gujarat bar council (SBC) for his alleged remarks before the Supreme Court in the judge BH Loya death case, reported PTI and others.

The Supreme Court today finished hearing counsel in the Bar Council of India (BCI) petition against the practice of law by foreign lawyers in India, in a hearing that began in the morning and reconvened at 3pm to finish only by nearly 5:30pm.

Judge BH Loya’s mysterious death was finally heard today for nearly an hour by the Supreme Court, under the shadow of the 12 January press conference of the Famous Four Judges, as well as Justice Arun Mishra’s equally mysterious recusal from hearing the case, after passing an order on 16 January.

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has scheduled its new elections for 14 December, according to notifications on its noticeboard and Facebook page.

“Bar associations are facing a very serious identity crisis and good lawyers are unfortunately not willing to participate in the democratic process in bar associations. As a result, most bar association have been hijacked by those lawyers who don't have a serious stake in the institution or those who have a personal agenda, but not the welfare of the bar.”

In a revelation which may shock many, the Solicitor General, Ranjit Kumar told the Supreme Court’s three-Judge bench hearing the black money investigation case this afternoon at Court No 2, that nothing survived in this case, and the court could dispose it of.

If the official minutes of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Executive Committee meeting held on 18 March are any indication, its president, Dushyant Dave, who presided over that meeting, never ceased to be its president, despite his resignation earlier on 15 February.

The Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) former president Dushyant Dave called an SCBA executive committee (EC) meeting today to withdraw his resignation from the SCBA’s presidential post, effective today. The SCBA’s secretary Gaurav Bhatia called the meeting “illegal”.

Just as his resignation as the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president in February was an impulsive decision, Dushyant Dave’s withdrawal of his resignation today also proved to be similarly emotional.

The Supreme Court today appointed a team of six senior lawyers to go to Patiala House court to observe the situation there and report back.

The president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Dushyant Dave, has quit in disgust after his differences with SCBA secretary Gaurav Bhatia and the SCBA executive committee became unresolvable.  

The final results of the election to the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) show that it was a very closely contested election, and for some posts, the sizable votes secured by some non-serious candidates tilted the result in favour of the successful candidate.

Although many expected Dushyant Dave to be reelected as the President, the scale of his victory has been surprising.  Many believed that it would be  a close contest between him and Shivaji Munjajirao Jadhav.  According to sources, Jadhav had spent a lot in bringing many outstation voters to Delhi to vote for him today, in order to neutralize the popularity of Dave among the voters.
