5 personality traits that identify you as a lawyer [SPONSORED]

In the era of creative business and ‘Out-of-the-box’ thinking attitude, for the learners to grow professionally it is necessary to find out ‘their calling’ and then get trained in a creative way rather than the traditional way. Be it in the field of medical, engineering or law.

You know it’s you calling when you see one. And to know one, you ought to be one.

Such is the case with lawyers.

You know you were born to be a lawyer when you identify these personality traits in them–

1. Arid Detachment

Being a lawyer requires you to detach yourself from the emotions/feelings surrounding an event/case, and focus on the objective whole.

Thus, many lawyers are typically arid and dispassionate, as they have trained themselves to stay in this highly unemotional state for their career.

It’s pretty rare that you run across a lawyer who buzzes with excitement, emotion, and passion for something.

2. Jargon Orators

Legal jargon and sentence structure is designed to confuse the average human being. It’s the same with accountants and doctors too.

By making everything more complicated than usual, they get to keep their jobs.

Thus, it’s only natural that lawyers insert legalese and other perplexing jargon into every other sentence so that they leave the average person dizzy and confused.

3. Social Skills

You either have the lawyers who know how to confab/network, or the ones who belong to the desk. Typically, you run across the latter very often. Also, fascinatingly enough, in a profession requiring verbal lash-outs, lawyers can be quite passive-aggressive. Caveat Emptor - when someone gives you a tight smile and says “everything’s fine”, everything actually is NOT fine.

4. Personally Ambitious

It’s fair to say lawyers are self-focused. In today’s world, with an overabundance of lawyers, one has to have a specialization in an area to attract clients and separate themselves from the pack. Thus, lawyers spend excessive time figuring themselves out and building their personal brand.

5. Extremely Challenging

Lawyers are highly competitive creatures, and this high level of competitiveness drives them to do crazy things like go through the pains of applying and attending law school. When you arrive in law school, you start recognizing you are just one fish in a sea of Type A folks who are used to being the best of their class at their previous educational institutions.
