Tomorrow, on Tuesday 13 October, the SC delivers will deliver judgment in Narendra Modi-baiter Sanjiv Bhatt’s plea to constitute a SIT to probe his allegations against Gujarat Government’s collusion with the riot-accused, and shield him from harassment.

Exactly 20 days after it reserved its judgment in the case, the Supreme Court bench comprising the Chief Justice HL Dattu and Justice Arun Mishra is delivering its judgment in Sanjiv Rajendra Bhatt vs Union of India tomorrow.

The judgment has been authored by Justice Arun Mishra, and he will be delivering it on behalf of himself and Chief Justice of India (CJI) HL Dattu.

In this case, the former police officer, Sanjiv Bhatt, who has been suspended from service by the Gujarat Government, had sought the court’s intervention to constitute a Special Investigation Team to probe his allegations of collusion between the Gujarat Government and the 2002-riot accused and also protect him from possible harassment by the state police, by investigating the allegations made against him during his service.

Bhatt’s allegations were directed against four individuals including the BJP chief, Amit Shah and the Additional Solicitor General, Tushar Mehta (who was Gujarat’s additional advocate general during the period of Bhatt’s allegations).

On behalf of Sanjiv Bhatt, senior advocate, Indira Jaising and counsel Prashant Bhushan had made detailed submissions before the bench.

The SG, Ranjit Kumar, had refuted Bhatt’s contentions in his response.
