AZB, Indus, Samvad, Tatva top a PE volume league table

AZB & Partners came out on top of a 2013 first-half-year league table released by corporate analytics company Venture Intelligence, recording 19 deals.

Induslaw and Samvad Partners – previously known as Narasappa Doraswamy & Raja – and Tatva Legal recorded eight deals each in the rankings.

The rankings pegged Amarchand in joint fifth position with only three qualifying private equity deals, singling out the $110m Den Networks Goldman Sachs instruction, which J Sagar Associates (JSA) was also involved in.

AZB was cited for the $265m Lafarge India – Baring Asia, $630m Alliance Tire Group – KKR, $151m Greenko Group – GIC, and the NSL Renewable Power deal.

Induslaw was credited with the $100m Redbus Naspers exit, and the $270m CSS Group – Partners Group exit. Samvad clocked up the Vijay Nirman-ICICI Venture, and PolicyBazaar Inventus Capital deals, while Venture Intelligence listed Tatva on NSL Renewables, and MedRc Edutech – NEA.

“The League Tables are compiled based on transactions submitted by the advisory firms and filtered using Venture Intelligence definitions,” stated Venture Intelligence in its press release.

AZB had also topped the mergermarket M&A half-yearly rankings by volume, but lost out to Amarchand by value.
