@1 If that's sarcasm, good job! If not, have you ever met him??? Or a sizable number of 'everyone'?

@2: Dr Veer Singh is a great academic and gem of a person. First reach even 1/10 his standard then talk. I would also like to know how just by sending email with no vulgar words it becomes sexual harassment. It is shameful misuse of law.

@ 3 Before you cry misuse of law, try reading it first.

You may see sexual harassment as being restricted to vulgar words but the Supreme Court of India has declared it to mean much more than that.

Being a great academic (based on what exactly?) or a gem of a person (not sure that Ram Reddy's classmates will endorse this one) does not give him a license to harass his subordinates. And anyway, while Dr. Veer Singh's academic credentials are hardly self evident, Prof. Dhanda is an internationally renowned scholar and a teacher who is adored and admired by hundreds of her students.

For this purpose, sexual harassment includes such unwelcome sexually determined behaviour (whether directly or by implication) as:

c) sexually coloured remarks;

e) any other unwelcome physical verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

Where any of these acts is committed in circumstances where under the victim of such conduct has a reasonable apprehension that in relation to the victim's employment or work whether she is drawing salary, or honorarium or voluntary, whether in government, public or private enterprise such conduct can be humiliating and may constitute a health and safety problem. It is discriminatory for instance when the woman has reasonable grounds to believe that her objection would disadvantage her in connection with her employment or work including recruiting or promotion or when it creates a hostile work environment. Adverse consequences might be visited if the victim does not consent to the conduct in question or raises any objection thereto.
