In RGNUL Patiala’s second graduating batch more than 53 per cent were placed after the largest part of the batch joined court practice and many others secured law firm positions through internships.
42 out of the batch of 79 students graduating this year were placed with law firms, advocates and legal process outsourcing companies (LPO).

15 students were placed in law firms including Amarchand Mangaldas and Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, which recruited two graduates each.
One student each was hired by Seth Dua & Associates, Vaish Associates, India Juris, Delhi law firms APJ-SLG law offices and KG Bhagat & Co, Kolkata law firm R Ginodia & Co, boutique corporate law firms SMA Legal, Juris Legal, and Ranchi’s Poddar & Associates, boutique intellectual property law firm Amarjit & Associates, and Noida litigation firm Shekhar Vyas & Associates.
Three students joined LPOs, with Clifford Chance’s captive Gurgaon-based OSC Export Services hiring two and Quislex hiring one.
Most of these placements were procured through internships and pre-placement offers, according to a press release from the university.
Pride and pre-judicial
It was “a matter of pride” for the law school that digressing from “trends followed in rest of the national law schools” 23 students of the class joined court practice and 21 applied for judicial clerkships, added the release.
Those numbers are two to three times higher than the number of students taking these two options at the other law schools which Legally India first tracked recruitment data for.
11 students have taken admission in LLMs, with six going for Indian universities, and nine students will prepare for various judicial service examinations.
Since April last year, RGNUL’s recruitment coordination committee (RCC) attempted to talk over 300 law firms, 50 companies, and some other legal organisations into visiting campus, according to the school’s statement.
Compare and contrast
Four other law schools also saw their second batch graduate this year, according to Legally India reports.
CNLU Patna’s class of 80 students self-reported 25 jobs with four law firms, two LPOs and one legal publication, RMLNLU Lucknow’s doubled class of 154 also saw 25 jobs in eight law firms, three LPOs, two companies and two advocates, while Christ College of Law Bangalore secured 21 jobs for its 54 students with six law firms, two LPOs, three NGOs, two companies, a think-tank and three students joined court practice.
Full disclosure: Legally India was involved in an on-campus career development programme at RGNUL Patiala.
