Exclusive: NLUO Cuttack has not yet formed a committee to appoint its new vice-chancellor (VC), one month after outgoing VC Chandra Krishnamurthy resigned to take up a position as VC of the Pondicherry University.
NLUO’s registrar Dr PM Samal told Legally India today that Thursday (31 January) would be Krishnamurthy’s last day on campus.
However, the executive council in its recent meeting failed to agree on a search committee which will select her replacement at the office, and applications for the position have not yet been invited.
Krishnamurthy completed barely eight months at the four-year-old university and is the second VC after Faizan Mustafa left to head up Nalsar Hyderabad. Both Mustafa and Krishnamurthy resigned from their positions at NLUO before the end of their tenure.
During her brief stint here, Krishnamurthy scrapped the joint LLM-PhD program started by Mustafa, blaming lack of recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a hurdle to its conduct.
