NLSIU Bangalore placed 24 out of 80 fourth year students on 20 April 2013 including 11 pre-placement offers(PPOs). Two independent offers from McKinsey & Co were made in addition to those.
A total of 21 ‘day zero’ campus offers to start work in 2014 came from law firms Luthra & Luthra (8 campus offers), Trilegal (5), Amarchand Mangaldas (4), AZB & Partners (2), and Khaitan & Co (2), according to legal website Bar & Bench, with AZB and Khaitan having recruited entirely through PPOs.
A total of 50 students who had subscribed to the college placement process. Students have also secured three London internships each with Allen & Overy and Herbert Smith Freehills. NLSIU’s RCC has not been reachable for comment by Legally India.
NLU Jodhpur’s day zero was four days before NlSIU’s on 16 April, placing 14 students.

Rather amusing how some law schools are insisting on becoming worse at PR and less transparent than most law firms.
NLU always had a "rolling recruitment" spread out over a few months. The wisdom of this may be doubted, and some firms may be pushing for Day Zero and Recruitment Week, but NLU's policy is what some people view as the factor which helped NLU buck the trend in 2009 - a year in which recruitment was slow.
Unfortunately (or not), recruitment is managed by a faculty body with administrative staff i.e. no RCC. Of course, there are professional issues when faculty deals with recruitment, but most regular recruiters have come to grips with it by now.
As I have said before, law aspirants rely on LI and similar sources when choosing a law school and you should take care in providing a correct view.
Since almost all other colleges are somewhat forthcoming about their data, it's rather unfair and short-sighted for one such as NUJS to try to hide theirs to retain some perceived advantage against future recruiters, by trying to 'hide' the fact that some of the existing batch has already been hired.
Then again, this attitude is nothing new, as it has been an issue we've had with NUJS' RCC for the past few years.
Also deserving of major naming and shaming by the way, since we're on the subject: GNLU, whose final recruiters figures were terrible last year, basically didn't share anything but for some generic puffy PR hotchpotch that they expected us to publish.
My appeal - if you are a student at any of those colleges and have some more accurate information or feel the RCC's or admins are trying to game the system, please let us know.
Best wishes,
Kian
It is "ridiculous" of you to expect NUJS to disclose the data, just because the other colleges are!
On the one hand, law students clamour that the industry is not transparent, that law firms have too powerful bargaining positions, and that law schools are run non-transparently.
On the other hand, they want only good publicity for a college and to avoid any negative news being reported (such as teachers slapping students, or others in other colleges), and to absolutely control the time and place and manner in which they disclose information about their recruitment because of some misguided notion it will hurt their chances.
This information is important and of benefit to not just for a few top law schools but actually to the entire profession and other colleges in planning their careers, recruitment etc.
For NUJS to force us to jump through hoops every year to get some data, which is basically available from the law firms anyway and isn't some big state secret, I would maintain is ridiculous, frankly.
If you disagree, please also accept that it is law firms' right to bully RCCs, it is the right of seniors to pay juniors whatever they want at the bar, and it is better if everyone were secretive about everything in the industry and was not written about.
Best wishes,
Kian
So there you go! If NUJS does not give its data, someone else has the data. So you do have Access to it. Just because NUJS isn't disclosing it shouldn't be holding you back now, should it?!
Also, whats the link between powerful law firms and non revealation of information BY NUJS? How does this action of NUJS (silly as it is) make law firms more powerful. Apples and oranges?
Btw, as you know, it is widely accepted that firms will abuse their superior bargainning power and senior lawyers will pay peanuts to juniors. But then, firms' egos must be satisfied, and seniors often hire juniors who they do not want for anything more than running around courts to keep an eye on the docket.
Fess up Noojies.
NUJS can hold their own! Stop berating someone having a discussion with them for bullying them.
I believe this is ridiculous and similar to the 'what happens in college, stays in college' mindset that many students feel is their duty to protect but that ensures a 'black box' and unaccountable culture continues propagating at places of legal education, to a certain extent, across subjects such as ragging, administration, academic problems and so on.
Two. Kian, you will appreciate that the reason the NUJS RCC does this is since we are an overcautious lot. and rightly so. despite consistently sharing space with the top tier law schools in India, we tend to sometimes face a problem because of geographical, strategic as well as logistical reasons, not to forget the largest intake in the better ranked law schools. So we try and negate any possibility of an externality affecting the recruitment process, especially concerning tier 2 law firms.
Three, and from here on, NUJS RCC, this goes directly to you. I think it far too childish for you to think that word doesn't get around, no matter how much you try and prevent it. Its not as if potential recruiters will not be aware before/during their screening process at NUJS, that some considerable amount of talent has already been recruited. And its further illogical to assume that non day-zero firms expect to be offered the best talent via campus recruitment when they don't match competitive pay packages.
Four, even if you have merit in your apprehensions, the market for ppo-s and campus recruitment tends to differ in terms of firm appetite, salary, need, etc. Disclosure of such ppo-related info is unlikely to do anything with respect to campus recruitments since as we've seen, some firms offer ppo-s as well as campus offers.
Five, if you think second tier law firms will feel dissed that all good talent has already been taken, then with this policy prevailing since a few years now, why is it that after all other law schools release their day zero figures, these so called second tier firms dont jump to us and recruit the rest of the lot? it clearly doesnt work this way.
Most importantly, if at all you think firms are going to decide their recruitment policies based on what they read in legally india ( and i dont think so, no offence Kian), the most probable effect, assuming one exists, is only going to be positive. Releasing figures can help further recruitment for the remaining subscribers in the batch. I'm certain you will understand that these figures also bear a symbolic relevance in the industry, indicative of the general perception of the talent in the current batch by the top recruiters of the country.
AND last, we must understand the market is way too competitive to try and restrain information from it. There are all kinds of players out there, from law students to potential recruiters to clat-aspirants and their parents, to lawyers, sponsors, etc. Especially when there is a decently commendable number to publish, and given the recent negative PR nujs has had, it make ABSOLUTELY rubbish sense to do what youre doing.
Bande Mataram.
Here are the rough, unconfirmed figures: (there are obviously more, in the form of PPOs and the like, but given that I aint the RPC, this is all i know)
AMSS: 3
Luthra: 5
Khaitan: 1
Trilegal: 3
AZB: 1
JSA: 2
There were a few more offers being spoken about from firms such as TTA and LKS, but one will have to wait for the RPC to come out on that.
We'll publish a full story on NUJS recruitment shortly after talking to the RCC again on whether they want to comment.
Best wishes,
Kian
As a student of NUJS who just got recruited Id like to see whether or not you let me voice my opinion on just how irrelevant and misguided you and your site are to the profession, students and law schools. You indulge in petty reportage that the industry grapevine gets across to everyone anyway. You are NOT a stakeholder in this process. If LI shuts down tomorrow the world will not come to a halt, as a matter of fact bar and bench does exactly what you do. You have absolutely no idea how the badly written and grammatically challenged articles on LI might impact the chances of those that do not have jobs yet. Stop throwing your sub-standard weight around, unless you want to get sued and lose in court to a law school who will surely beat you in any fora.
What is "sub-standard weight?"
lololoolloool relevance my dear?
Kian what considerations/processes are involved in downvoting a comment
We've been trying to introduce more of community-style moderation so that less time is wasted on responding to trolls and the good content is more easily visible. Do let us know if you have any queries.

1) if you genuinely believe, simultaneously, that LI is a rag that noone cares about and that law firms recruiting you are heavily influenced by LI, then you're a confused soul, and you shouldn't be making any decisions
2) LI's recruitment data, especially for colleges like NUJS that have relatively good statistics, will help draw recruiters who will realize that Noojies are more sought after than GNLU or HNLU people
3) Since it's definitely possible that the benefits of such data accrue more to the next few batches (if 40 kids get picked up at NUJS day zero, it is possible that other recruiters may think twice about recruiting from the rest of the batch, because the good kids have all been taken, but all recruiters will definitely try and be part of day zero the next year to reap the benefit of these oh-so-wow students), i think the lower batches should be particularly angry with this development and do what they can to ensure this doesn't happen (i.e., should share info with LI). What your fourth years are doing, essentially, is creating an information asymmetry which they believe (possibly incorrectly) benefits them, but which definitely harms you.
Anyway, Kian - chill. If you don't get info from NUJS RCC, so be it. I'm sure you have several more newsworthy articles to publish.
Hehe
On a different note, the Nalsar 2013 rcc is the only one with data out for everyone. Published 3-5 weeks ago on LI.
Kindly get details of other colleges.
The total number of offers(campus+ppo's) :
Luthra-11
Amarchand-7
Khaitan-5
AZB-4
Trilegal-5
Mckinsey-2
Total=34
Out of 34 offers only 24 were accepted.
