NLIU Bhopal placed 48 out of 89 graduates in its batch of 2015. 11 Companies, including one NGO, recruited 19 graduates and 12 domestic law firms hired 20 graduates, with 10 students joining three Big Six firms. Five graduates joined two legal process outsourcing companies (LPO).
Clarification: The total number of students who participated in the placement activities was 48.
Four graduates joined litigating advocates’ chambers.
The remaining 41 students of the class, had not participated in the campus placement process, according to a press release from the law school. Seven of these took LLM admissions and one graduate was confirmed for a Supreme Court judicial clerkship with justice Shiva Kirti Singh.
The placement coordination committee commented in the press release: “This year the Placement Coordination Committee (PCC) took special note of the varied professional interests of the students and invited a wide range of organisations offering very diverse job profiles in addition to our regular recruiters. This has helped us cater to individual needs of our students. The PCC conducted the entire recruitment process throughout the year which included connecting with our long standing recruiters and networking with many first time recruiters through lectures, presentations and interviews. As is evident, this year the majority of our students have opted for In-house roles in various service sectors and organisations along with the traditional law firm roles. The students who did not register themselves for placements are majorly pursuing Litigation, LLM & other Post Graduate Courses, preparing for Civil services and Judicial Services. ”

You people are the best young legal minds. Please unite instead of fighting over whether NLU Bhopal underperformed (yes, they did underperform but thats because the economy is in bad shape and only liberalisation will create more jobs).
And along with foreign law firm also demand reforms in legal education: more accountability, better faculty etc.
A genuine suggestion.
Further if the national economy doesn't do well in the coming future, then there wouldn't be a business case left for the international law firms to look at opening offices in India.
^for those who had a doubt regarding 2015 being there.
and Kian, any update on MPL 7?
