Amarchand Mangaldas Gurgaon-based corporate, private equity and M&A partner Ravindra Bandhakavi is in the final stages of discussions to join Trilegal, potentially with his team, according to four authoritative sources.
However, Trilegal's partnership has not yet agreed to his joining tomorrow in a vote that is set to conclude later today.
Update 14:08: Trilegal’s partnership has voted in favour of Bandhakavi joining its partnership.
Update 14:20: Trilegal has issued a press release, stating:
Trilegal is pleased to welcome Ravindra Bandhakavi as a partner of the firm. Ravi joins us from Amarchand Mangaldas where he was a partner and practice leader in the corporate department. He will be based in Trilegal’s Delhi office and is expected to join the firm shortly.
Anand Prasad, member of Trilegal’s Management Committee said, “We are delighted to have Ravi join us. Trilegal is committed to growing its corporate practice and we believe that Ravi’s reputation and his client base will further strengthen the practice.”
Bandhakavi had joined Amarchand Mumbai in 2000 after graduating from NLSIU Bangalore in 2000, then joined SUN Group / SUN Apollo in 2005, leaving as vice president / general counsel in 2008 to rejoin Amarchand Mumbai in 2009 after a masters in management at London Business School.
He moved to the firm’s Delhi office in 2011 and then relocated to Amarchand’s Gurgaon office when it opened in September of last year.
He was expected to be elevated into the firm’s new Delhi equity partnership started by Shardul Shroff, in the expected break-up between Amarchand Delhi and Mumbai.
Trilegal managing partners declined to comment or did not respond to calls seeking comment.
Bandhakavi declined to comment when contacted.
We have reached out to Amarchand Delhi managing partner Shardul Shroff for comment.

Can Sam afford to loose its existing resource when he is headhunting left, right, centre
The market is going to witness a blood bath. Expect KCO, AZB to also poach from SAM and CAM and hit back, while the brothers continue to hire from other firms. Interesting times ahead!
SAM also not hiring for the sake of it unlike CAM.
are we seeing a conservative strategy or a shift away from a numbers game to thr zia philosophy of keep em lean and keep em mean? If that is true, its a good strategy and will pay SAM dividends in the long term.
my two cents!
The only possible conclusion is that you too are a semi-professional troll, which ironically would prove your own argument, which I guess would make you right and a happy troll? :)
Responding to your actual point, if I can discern it, it is obvious that you know nothing, Jon Snow. Bandhakavi's move was announced internally in Delhi, Trilegal's partnership was having a vote on his joining (which went through), and we've reached out to every single person affected by this story for comment. Which part of that is unprofessional about that?
I ask out of genuine interest on my own behalf (not representing LI in this comment).
While I strongly disagree with your 'stats' (as I think would anyone objective who keeps track of both sites' coverage), and I honestly have no idea about the unnamed 'authentic sources' that you claim they use and that we don't, I remain happy to admit that B&B is doing far better than they used to.
We also always give credit to them if they get an exclusive story that we were not on top of (though their recent and liberal use of labelling their stories as 'exclusives' after we write them up is highly questionable :).
My one question remains unanswered, however: why do you and your friends visit LI at all and leave your obvious loathing for it all over these pages?
Either you have a horse in this race or you're just a masochist...
Anyway, I trust our readers' intelligence enough to be able to make up their own mind about what good journalism is when they read it and what they prefer.
As for you, please do exercise your prerogative and visit B&B if you love it so much, I certainly won't stop you. :)
Peace, love n byebye,
Kian
I think the delhi heat is getting to u. relax!! and I think Kian can speak for himself ..why so defensive ya...!!
chill maadi maa..!!
Allow me give you a short history of legal journalism. A few years ago, B&B used to be a sleepy operation that would wait obediently for press releases from law firms and write puff pieces (which they still often do, in my humble and perhaps biased opinion). But, credit where it's due, I'm happy to admit they've picked up their game a little in recent months and are far more aggressive than they used to be.
That means that while for years we had the luxury of being able to wait for news, partnership votes to come through, to try and make as many people as possible comfortable for us to report news, etc, we've had to up our game slightly too.
And honestly, while it makes our job slightly harder, it can only be good for the market's overall transparency if there's a healthy amount of competition between trade publications, which is starting to gradually inch towards the levels that have existed in the UK or the US trade publications for decades.
So if you want someone to blame, you should blame B&B for emulating LI's reporting on law firms. :)
Thanks,
Kavi
Problem is that people don't like to get dissed and try to shoot down those who bare the truth! Get a life!
Appreciate all the feedback, regardless.
Cheerio
Kian
Though I have no special love for Kian or LI as I visit both LI and B&B equally, I think credit is due to Kian and LI for what they have done and continue doing. Even during the unnecessary slugfest on this particular story, Kian has acknowledged how B&B has been recently trumping him and how they have been forced to up their game - I personally think thats very professional (and humble?).
So far as "confirming" the story etc goes, I am not sure how many readers actually care about that as: (i) the website is about legal news and gossip and a dollop of sensationalism is expected; and (ii) so long as there are some informal sources willing to confirm a newsworthy story, it will attract attention and hits.
Bottomline is, guys, if you dont like LI please take you hits somewere else. May god/your employer grant you net neutrality :-) (Sorry net neutrality is the new "cool" conversation piece!)
In any case, thanks Kian & team- dont bother about these comments and keep up the good work!
All the best to Ravindra and his team!
Best wishes,
Kian

barandbench.com/content/212/amarchand-mangaldas-suresh-shroff-dissolution-%E2%80%93-end-era
Obviously there has been no settlement, no?
But at the time i read this piece, there was not a single comment criticising the blatant error in the so called exclusive. Not a single comment on it, period :)
Will keep tweaking LI look from time to time so do keep feedback coming whenever there's something that annoys you particularly...
