Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai partner Vijayendra Pratap Singh will join AZB & Partners Delhi, Singh has officially confirmed.

Singh told us he would be joining as the firm’s Delhi office’s head of dispute resolution, and added: “I am grateful to Amarchand Mangaldas and  Cyril Amarchand for the platform and experience that I gained during my tenure with the Firms. I leave on cordial terms.

“I look forward to working with the AZB team in reinforcing its reputation as a top tier firm. My appointment and those of the other dispute resolution partners only goes on to  show the firm's commitment towards building a formidable dispute resolution practice.”

He will be transitioning to AZB Delhi in the coming months.

Update: AZB managing partner Ajay Bahl has issued a press release commenting: “With over 16 years as a litigator, practicing before various courts and tribunals and with significant experience in arbitrations, he will be a great addition to the AZB team.

“We are very excited and look forward to growing our litigation practice with him and the other litigation partners in AZB.”

Cyril Amarchand managing partner Cyril Shroff commented: “We wish him luck and success. He goes with my goodwill and friendship.

“The entire team is staying back. And the hand-over is very smooth.”

On Saturday Bar & Bench had reported that Singh was likely to leave for AZB, although no internal announcement had been made at the time.

AZB Delhi’s litigation team has been hit by the departure of senior partner Percy Billimoria and his team in May, followed by a partner in his team, Sidhartha Barua, on 5 July.

AZB’s Mumbai office, meanwhile, had plundered Cyril Amarchand Mumbai’s corporate ranks with senior partner Ashwath Rau and three other partners in his team, and competition partner Nisha Kaur Uberoi.
