Luthra Feb round sees 2 lit 'partner designate' get partnership, as only 3 associates promo'd

In addition to managing corporate associate promotions Geeta Dhania and Vishal Yaduvanshi, whose promotions to partnership Legally India reported over the last two weeks, Luthra & Luthra has announced the promotions of partner designates Abdullah Hussain and Ashish Prasad to full partnership this weekend, reported Bar & Bench.

Both Hussain and Prasad are in the litigation teams of the firm and have graduated in 2003, while Hussain is an alumnus from Nalsar Hyderabad and Prasad from Campus Law Centre of Delhi University.

Bar & Bench had also reported that one senior associate, Sumit Mangal, was promoted to managing associate, and two associates, Parag Mohanty and Aditi Goyal, were promoted to senior associate.

Luthra managing partner Rajiv Luthra did not respond to messages seeking comment.

In January 2014, the firm had promoted two to partner in an “exceptional promotion round”, with promotions at the firm then ordinarily having been announced in April and December of each year. There were no December 2014 promotions at the firm.

In July 2014 the firm promoted two to partnership and introduced four to the newly-introduced “partner designate” position, while promoting a massive total of 22 senior associates to managing associate level, followed by two new partner promotions in August, and 17 promotions to managing and senior associate levels.

In April 2014 Luthra lost one of its recently-promoted Mumbai corporate star-partners, Shishir Vayttaden, to Amarchand Mangaldas, after a raft of other partner departures following a decline in the firm’s profitability in 2013.
