Kanth & Associates added former HDFC Bank and Bank of Fujairah vice president Arvind Garg as a partner to build its banking and finance vertical.

Garg who has over 30 years of experience heading banks and financial institutions as a cost accountant and an FMS MBA graduate, completed his LLB this year from Delhi University.

“I was managing financial institutions, largely on the legal side,” said Garg adding that he had an affinity for not just the practice but the study of law, which is why he chose to pursue a law degree and join a law firm after more than three decades of senior in house roles in the sector.

“I was very particular that I will not go into something like Amarchand Mangaldas where I thought I will be lost. So I carefully selected Kanth & Associates.”

Garg began his career as senior manager at Punjab National Bank, then went on to the role of chief manager at Indusind Bank, Head corporate banking India at HDFC Bank, vice president at HDFC Bank, vice president at National Bank of Fujairah and finally founder director of financial services at Walnut Financial Advisory.

He said that he brings in experience in investment banking, mutual funds, core banking, corporate and capital markets matters to Kanth. Kanth partner Ravi Ranjan had been handling the banking practice of the firm, before Garg.

“Arvind was hired to strengthen the banking practice of the firm,” commented the firm adding that Garg’s client relationships in the finance sector will also help the firm build this vertical.

The firm now has six partners including Garg.
