FoxMandal Little has hired a partner to head its New Delhi intellectual property (IP) practice of three lawyers.

Vinay Dwarkadas joined from Khaitan & Co's Mumbai office where he was a senior associate.

Dwarkadas (pictured) said that he hoped to greatly expand the existing IP practice at FoxMandal: "I have to be its backbone and want to take it forward for years to come. I plan to be here for a long time."

He explained that he wants to increase the size of the FML IP team to up to 12 lawyers if the markets continued picking up for the rest of the year.

Dwarkadas is a qualified advocate, a registered Indian patent agent and a trade mark attorney and he had been with Khaitan for around four years.

Khaitan Mumbai partner Rabindra Jhunjhunwala said that he wished Dwarkadas well at Fox Mandal.

Dwarkadas first joined Khaitan as part of Jose Madan's team from IP firm DePenning & DePenning around four years ago.

Madan continues heading Khaitan's IP practice, which includes between six and seven IP specialists.
