Former KPMG India director Vishwanath Shukla has started up BMG Legal Solutions with former DMD Advocates lawyer Madhavi Swaroop as co-founding partner. BMG Legal is a tax advisory and disputes law firm.

Vishwanath did his LLB from Symbiosis Pune and started his career in 2002, in the indirect tax litigation team of Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan (LKS). He left LKS in 2009 to join Vaish Associates, and left Vaish in January 2014 to join KPMG India. Between March and October 2014 Shukla was principal and tax litigator with Advaita Legal – a designation which was equivalent to his directorship at KPMG, he said.

Shukla has more than 600 appearances before forums such as the CESTAT, the high courts and the Supreme Court, the Settlement Commission and the Advance Ruling Authority and has represented assessees before departmental authorities, according to a press release from BMG.

Swaroop did her LLB from Symbiosis Pune in 2008 and worked with Vaish, the chambers of senior advocate MS Syali and DMD Advocates before going independent in 2015.

BMG has another partner in addition to the two co-founding partners and two senior associates and has offices in Delhi, Allahabad and Kanpur. In Allahabad and Kanpur the firm acts for clients before CESTAT benches.
