ELP Chennai loses head as partner Karthik Sundaram goes independent post Rohan Shah exit

His departure follows only two weeks after the formal departure of long-time managing partner Rohan Shah from the firm

Economic Laws Practice (ELP) Chennai head and partner Karthik Sundaram left the firm on 14 October to go into counsel practice, around 14 days after former managing partner Rohan Shah formally retired from the firm to become a counsel.

Sundaram who headed up Chennai’s team of around four lawyers, and focussed on taxation and dispute resolution, will also stick to those practice areas in his chamber practice in the Madras high court.

He commented: “I had a nice experience at ELP but moved on as I wanted to go into counsel practice.”

He is a Symbiosis Pune 2005 alumnus and joined ELP as an associate in 2006, was promoted to associate manager in 2010 and associate partner in 2014. He said that the firm is currently looking for someone to head up the Chennai office.

ELP managing partner Suhail Nathani commented: “We wish him the best as he embarks on his career as an independent counsel, and he has been an excellent resource at ELP ”
