Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas principal associates Shyamali Singh and Harsh Maggon have joined AZB & Partners in Mumbai, with Singh becoming a partner and Maggon a counsel.
AZB Mumbai managing partner Zia Mody commented: “We are delighted to have Shyamali as our partner and Harsh as counsel. Both of them have deep experience and excellent skill sets and we are looking forward to having them as part of AZB ”
GLC Mumbai 2004 graduate Singh began her career as a Desai & Diwanji articled clerk in 2002, joined Trilegal in 2006, moving to then-Amarchand Mangaldas in 2008.
Maggon has joined AZB in April, according to his Linked-in profile. The 2007-Symbiosis Law School graduate began his career at Economic Laws Practice (ELP), joined DSK Legal in 2008, and joined then-Amarchand Mangaldas in 2012.
Cyril Amarchand managing partner Cyril Shroff did not respond to a message seeking comment.
It is understood that both first left Cyril Amarchand - as reported by Legally India in January alongside seven other senior non-partner leavers - and only then joined AZB.
That said, erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai - which is now Cyril Amarchand - and AZB Mumbai are believed to have had a long-standing informal non-poach agreement between them.

I understand what a Counsel means in litigation!
Even JSA trained lawyers find it tough to survive!!
Under most no poach agreements, you can approach people after they have resigned or expressed their intention to resign, so this would fall within it.
