NLSIU Bangalore graduates Anindita Phukan, Dinesh Singh and Shekhar Vyas started up a Delhi-Bangalore law firm called Altum Law in December of last year.
The firm currently consists of the three founding senior partners, and two other partners, as well as eight associates, said Phukan, who is based in Bangalore, while Singh and Vyas are working from Delhi.
“We have some niche expertise right now,” explained Phukan, noting that Singh has considerable expertise in aviation and Vyas specialises in tax. “That is something that’ll be very useful for a firm to have those practices - not all firms have all that within the shop.”
“While we would want to be a friendly chilled out place and make clients feel comfortable, we are aiming quite big hopefully,” she said.
In 2012 Phukan had moved from Khaitan & Co to set up the Bangalore office of Hyderabad-headquartered firm Tempus Law Associates.
Singh was a founding partner of start-up firm IndoJuris before setting up Altum, while Vyas had been running his own indirect tax firm S Vyas Associates since 2002.
Vyas graduated from NLSIU Bangalore in 1995, while Singh and Phukan graduated one year later.
