According to AZB, “OPIC to finance ReNew Wind Energy (TN2) Private Limited (RWEPL) (by way of external commercial borrowing) for setting up of a solar photo voltaic plant of 50 MW AC capacity and associated facilities in Pavagada Solar Park, Tumkur district, Karnataka.”
An OPIC statement (PDF) noted:
The Project is under the ReNew Master Financing Facility, a $250 million financing facility for the development, construction, and operation of solar PV projects awarded under the Government of India’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. The Project will result in the construction of a 50 MW capacity solar PV located in a solar park in the state of Karnataka. The Project will diversify the country’s power generation mix with a clean source of renewable power. The Project also contributes to the U.S. Government’s commitment to assist India with its transition to a low carbon economy and to help India achieve the goals of the NSM, which is targeting an addition of 100 GW of solar power by 2022
