Amarchand Mangaldas’ Mumbai region has advised the Aditya Birla Group on merging Aditya Birla Nuvo’s premium apparel business, Madura Garments Lifestyle Retail, with Pantaloons Fashion and Retail India.

Mumbai-based managing partner Cyril Shroff, Bangalore partner Nivedita Rao and Mumbai-based partner Gurpreet Vasir Ashar acted for the three companies as transaction counsel.

Amarchand Mumbai tax partner SR Patnaik, competition partner Nisha Uberoi and litigation partner Sharad Mathkar - who is expected to become equity partner at the separate partnership to be started by Shroff after splitting from the Delhi region of the firm - also assisted on the deal.

The consolidation will create India’s largest branded clothing company with annual turnover of Rs 5,290 crore, reported Mint.
