Mr Bhardwaj was a basic loyalist, he didn\'t do a lot apart from one thing that\'s viewed positively: opening up legal services. Everywhere else, it is unfortunate to say, his record is very poor. - partner

No matter who becomes law minister, the most imptant thing everyone is watching is whether the new Congress government will put the legal market at the top of its agenda.

To be honest, there are probably more immediately pressing matters in India right now than whether foreign law firms can enter the market or not. -

Yet another setback. I don\'t think we will see liberalisation in the next decade. - Euss

He may be barking up the wrong tree completely. Kapil Sibal does not want the Law Ministry and has given his sons being in practice as an excuse to not be there. Khurseed, I don\'t know.

But my Delhi sources say that it could be some not-so-high-profile chap! -

I do not quite agree that H.R Bharadwaj\'s departure will hurt the reform process in any way - if you talk to the right people in the Law Ministry and the regulatory bodies - you will get the feeling that most are happy to see his back.

As regards the new appointment - I would put my money on Salman Khurshid - but many more important people have lost money on such things!!!!! - Betting man
