Khaitan, JSA, Bakers win CCI nod for RCom Sistema

Khaitan & Co advised Reliance Communications on gaining Competition Commission of India (CCI) approval for its acquisition of Russian conglomerate Sistema’s Indian telecom unit Sistema Shyam Teleservices which was advised by J Sagar Associates (JSA) and Baker & McKenzie.

Khaitan Mumbai partner Avaantika Kakkar, senior associate Anshuman Sakle and associates Dhruv Rajain and Arunima Chatterjee acted for Reliance.

JSA Gurgaon partners Rohitashwa Prasad and Akshay Nagpal assisted by founder Jyoti Sagar, and Bakers UK partner Tim A Sheddick acted for Sistema Shyam which operates in India under the MTS brand name.

The deal was announced in November, as reported by Legally India, and will help RCom gain access to the 4G spectrum, as reported by Times of India.
