Senior Advocate Gaurav Pachnanda accepts UK Fountain Court Chambers tenancy

Senior advocate Gaurav Pachnanda, who practices in the Supreme Court, accepted door tenency at the UK’s Fountain Court Chambers effective 1 September 2016.

Pachnanda joined the Indian Bar after obtaining an LLB degree from the University of Jammu in 1996 and a BCL from the University of Oxford in 1997 where he was elected a Felix Scholar, according to Fountain Court’s announcement.

He was the senior additional advocate general for J&K, at Delhi and represented J&K before the Supreme Court from 2010 to 2015 in that capacity. He is also registered as a foreign lawyer at the Singapore International Commercial Court, the announcement adds.

He has represented clients such as LG Household and Healthcare Limited, Pacific Convergence Corporation Limited and Aditya Birla Group, and his practice is focussed on commercial and corporate litigation.

Pachnanda commented in Fountain Court’s announcement: “I am delighted to be a part of Fountain Court. While the bulk of my legal practice is before courts and tribunals in India, a significant part is already comprised of international commercial arbitrations. This association will formalize my presence as a counsel in the international commercial arbitration space. Of course, Fountain Court’s tremendous reputation for excellence in commercial litigation and arbitration internationally was the main reason why I decided to associate with them. This gels very well with my core areas of interest.”

Stephen Moriarty QC, Head of Chambers at Fountain Court Chambers commented: “We are delighted to have Gaurav Pachnanda join us as a member of Chambers, especially at a time of a number of interesting developments in the Indian legal market, such as the opening of the Mumbai Centre of International Arbitration. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
