The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) voted in its vice president senior advocate Ajit Kumar Sinha as the association’s acting president, to fill the presidential post which was lying vacant since the February resignation of the last elected president senior advocate Dushyant Dave.
The SCBA’s executive committee (EC) yesterday elected Sinha by a 13:5 vote to fill the presidential vacancy, a source in the SCBA told Legally India.
The association’s website does not carry a notification for this development but, on its homepage, address Sinha as the “officiating president”, and advocate Gaurav Bhatia as the “Hony Secretary”.
Dave, who had been consecutively re-elected as the SCBA’s president in its December 2015 elections, had resigned from the post in February over differences with Bhatia and the EC.
