Find out how to get an edge in international arbitrations with this course

With a growing number of cross-border transactions, international arbitration has become the most popular form of dispute resolution.

Parties to a dispute now no longer have to deal with the delays of any particular country’s judicial system, or the peculiarities and biases which may arise out of local legal frameworks. International arbitration has emerged as a major area of practice around the world and India is no different, with almost every leading law firm having teams of lawyers who work specifically in this area.

It is a growing, lucrative field of law which is attracting a lot of legal talent. But there are very few avenues where one can learn about the intricacies of this specialised practice area.

Rainmaker, India’s pioneering legal learning, content, and technology company, has now introduced a solution for this problem.

Recognising the need for a world class learning resource on the subject, Rainmaker has created a unique, specialised certification course on International Arbitration, with institutional inputs and guidance from the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).

SIAC is one of the premier institutions for international commercial arbitration in the world, and is globally one of the most preferred fora for resolving trade disputes.

The course has been designed and created by Rainmaker’s expert faculty, consisting of experienced lawyers who specialise in international arbitration, and have worked in alternative dispute resolution teams at globally renowned firms such as Allen & Overy and Simmons & Simmons.

Between 2001 and 2012, the number of new cases involving at least one Indian party increased tenfold. In 2013 alone, Indian parties generated the highest number of cases at SIAC: 85 out of a total of 259. This gives SIAC a unique level of expertise on international arbitration from an Indian perspective.

“Globally, International arbitration has been an exceptionally promising and lucrative field,” says Rainmaker CEO Antony Alex. “India is no different - with the backlog of cases and an overburdened judiciary, Indian corporates and MNCs are resorting to arbitration as an effective means of dispute resolution. That’s why there is a massive demand for lawyers with expertise in this area. A large number of graduating law students want to specialise in arbitration. Law firms and even independent practitioners are focusing on ways to expand their arbitration practice. A high quality, cost effective and easily accessible online learning course on International Arbitration was the need of the hour. Rainmaker is fulfilling that need. A certification earned on completion of this course will be a true indicator of expertise in this area.”

Since the content is completely online, students can access and study the material from anywhere and at any time, as long as they have an internet connection. This makes this course especially appealing to students who need to attend classes or do internships, as well as professionals who have busy work schedules.
