Crash course to the new & improved Legally India

2018 Update: This page is very much out of date and some of the features described below may not be active anymore.

Even if you haven’t been the most regular reader you will have noticed that Legally India has been undergoing a major facelift for the past few weeks. Well, we’re mostly out of beta testing now, so please allow us to walk you through what’s new and what changes are deeper than skin deep and do share your feedback.

By way of introduction, our homepage (accessible anytime over the HOME button in the menu on top) is still the main place where most of our content lives, including exclusive news and features, besides regular aggregation of the most interesting news from elsewhere.

Our homepage also features the revamped latest legal job vacancies via our wildly successful Legally Jobs offering, the best of readers’ blogs, forum posts, our advanced and powerful social network and more.

Plus…

  1. All the headlines

  2. Legally India is now a one-stop shop for all your legal and mainstream news. Click the EXTERNAL link, left on the top menu, for instant access to the latest headlines and story summaries from:

    • Mint, on business news,

    • The Lawyer, for UK and international legal news,

    • Corporate Law Blog for the best legal analysis and updates,

    • Spicy IP, serving the latest news from the world of intellectual property,

    • and Project Cloud and Lawctopus, giving top gyan for students

To requests adding other sites, please post below in the comments.

  3. Conversation

Stay in the loop and check for the latest comments and most popular stories instantly by clicking on the speech bubble icon on the very top-left of any page. Give it a go. Plus our conversations are more intricate and nuanced, allowing voting, classification and more. Join the debate!

  4. Faster

LI has been rebuilt from the ground up not just for faster loading speeds but we’ve tuned our interface so you can get to the information you want with the minimum of fuss.

    • Colour-coded sections (transactions are red, violet are firms, and so on, and so forth.)

    • Brief news items instantly scannable with a ‘quick read’

    • Longer articles can be opened in less loading time and without distracting comments by clicking the ‘Skim this’ button, and more…

  5. On-the-go

We know an increasing number of you are accessing Legally India over tablets or smartphones, so we have made LI more mobile friendly than ever, no matter how tiny your mobile phone or large your monitor. Try hitting on your standard smartphone or tablet browser. The experience will be best on Apple, Android and other fairly new devices with 3G connections, allowing you to read, post comments, engage on LI forums and more.

If your phone does not play nicely with LI, please leave a comment and we will try to improve compatibility.

  6. Be alert

If you don’t want to miss any news, sign up to our free email newsletter that delivers the top LI headlines every evening. You can unsubscribe any time of course: click here to try it out.

You can also now get our updates on Google+, as well as Facebook, Twitter, and Linked-in.

  7. Be informed

LI’s LegallyPedia has more useful content than ever before, including detailed articles and information on many of the top Indian law firms, compiled and curated by the very talented Legally India intern Kritika Khanijo.

Legally India has come a long way in almost four years and we hope you will continue enjoying the site and finding it useful.

Please do continue making suggestions and criticism that can help us improve. Ultimately, without you - the reader - there is no Legally India, so thank you all for your support and enthusiasm.

We hope to keep you updated more frequently in future about what is happening at our end.

Best wishes,

Team LI
